Cover title "The Elite Directory of Vancouver", 1908 date from copyright page, printed by Thomson Stationers Ltd., Vancouver, BC. Blue leather over boards, title stamped in gilt onto upper board, 12mo (6-5/8 inches tall), pp. [iv], 1-125, [3 - blank], silk ribbon marker bound-in at head of spine, illustrated throughout with photo reproductions and ads. Volume w. light wear to covers, three brief cracks to front hinge, ribbon marker coming loose, else tightly bound, clean and unmarked. A detailed list of everyone who was anyone in turn-of-the-century Vancouver, BC. Includes a complete list of 1908 social clubs (Terminal City Club, Western Club, American Club, Tennis Club, Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, etc.) and their paid-up members at the rear. Also lists "Privileged Members" who were variously residing on the S.S. "Empress of China", "Empress of Japan", or "Empress of India" at the time of publication. Oh, and if one wishes to chat on the tele with the Stanley Park Stables? Just ring 138. A very nice copy of a scarce and early Vancouver Directory, with OCLC locating just two hard copies of this directory, one held at U of British Columbia and the other at U of Arizona. Accessed 12/21.
