OUP. 1929 1st edition.. Size 9.25 x 11.5 inches. In maroon cloth covers with gilt to spine and front. With dustwrapper. In very good condition with good dustwrapper (dw; spine darkened and rubbed with small holes and tears. Rubbed along edges with small marks, stains and tears. Not price clipped). Relevant letter to front. Else a clean and tight copy. 27pp. With b/w plates. William Sheldon introduced tapestry making to England in the mid 16th century. The industry he established in Warwickshire produced a series of magnificent tapestries. The object of this book is to identify the surviving examples in private and public collections in England.
