No owner inscrptn and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp,clean,wrap-around, glossy, colour pictorial landscape scenic artwork illustration by Bill Gregory, illustrated dw/dj with capitalised, white outlined yellow-lettered author's name and red-lettered title and other white-lettered strap-line to front of dw/dj; a slightly sunned/faded spine/backstrip with capitalised yellow-lettered author name, faded red-lettered title and publisher's capitalised white-lettered and illustrated name +colophon to foot of same, rear panel of dw/dj with white-lettered credited aauthor and story synopsis. Negligible shelf-wear,bumping - both head+foot of spine/backstrip mininsculely bumped with reciprocal creases, minimal creasing to top+bottom edges and corners – no major nicks, tears or splits present.Top edges reasonably bright a a pair of foxing(?) spots,fore-edges bright and clean with no foxing/spotting ; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound – no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips – would appear unread, apart from my own collation. Publisher's bright,crisp,clean/unblemished,generally sharp-cornered,original plain black cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked gilt lettering to spine/backstrip,and immaculate repeated b/w map (Kingdoms of Britain c.495 AD) illustrated endpapers.UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,vii-xiipp+3 -396pp [paginated] includes a Foreword, separate Characters+Places lists,Pts 1-4 and Autho'r Note; plus [unpaginated] thumbnail b/w illustration repeated to half-title individual Pts seoarator pages, title page,a dedication, and to the rear,4 pp blanks. Visually the exterior appearance is more than acceptable and even internally,is in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation, for a book of its 35+ year-old age. It is only the minor faults described that prevents a slightly higher grading overall. Despite that it is still an exceptional copy for its cleanliness, brightness and lack of other detracting faults.
