Original folds, light foxing to margins, a nice clean copy. Issued in Johann Joachim Schwabe's Allgemeine Historie der Reisen (1748 - 1774), (Volume 3, 1748). A view of Fort William at Anomabu, Ghana. The fort was built by the British in 1743, on the site of a previous British fort, Fort Charles, which was abandoned in the late 17th century. Also known as Anomabu Castle, the fort became the center of British slave trading along the Gold Coast until the slave trade was outlawed in 1807.
