A study of William Wordsworth's body of poetry on childhood in a time of changing values, in a perspective against the background of 18th century poetry, including the work of William Blake, Robert Burns, William Cowper, Michael Bruce, George Crabbe, Alexander Pope, Robert Southey, James Thomson and John Langhorne among others. Adolph Charles Babenroth (1883-1928), after earning his A.M. at Harvard in 1906, taught English at Syracuse University until 1919, when he became Professor of English at Columbia University. The professor died in 1928 following an appendectomy.
