Owner's (1923) pencil inscription on front flyleaf (erasable). Rebacked with contemporary quarter-leather spine stamped in gilt and tastefully matching endpapers. Covers are rubbed and lightly faded at extremities, binding is quite worn at tips of corners (with loss to cloth and tips of boards), else a very good copy; text has slight foxing, else the text and plates bright and clean. First edition. pp. vi, [2], 72, illustrated with 15 original full-page mounted albumen print photographs (reproducing paintings, of children, by Joshua Reynolds) by A. and E. SELLEY. 4to.
