London: Published by R. Ackermann, 1817. First edition. First editions in book form. Three volumes, with engraved title pages, 96 hand-colored plates by Thomas Rowlandson. Finely bound by Riviere & Son in full polished calf ruled in gilt, raised bands, morocco spine labels, spines tooled in gilt; all edges gilt, teal endpapers, gilt dentelles. Very Good+ with slight rubbing and tenderness to joints, a few scuffs to calf; faint offsetting from plates, occasional foxing. Bookplates of Edward Laurence Doheny and Carrie Estelle Doheny on endpapers.
A beautifully illustrated set of Rowlandson and Combe's Dance of Death as well as its sequel.
