New York: Columbia University Press, 1973. Book. As New. Cloth. 1st Edition. Octavo, blue cloth covered boards with white spine titles. 302 pp. including indes and Check List from 1641 to 1907. A selection of representative forms of this satirical (and at one time quite popular) form which began with the Roman author Lucian and lasted until the 20th century. A scholarly history and reference work with invaluable source information and check list. This copy is fine, unmarked, and apparently unread with bright white fresh interior. The dark blue dust jacket is unfaded although the white rear panel shows a patch of sunning and some specks of soil. Overall an excellent and very presentable copy.
