About This Item

Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Dust Jacket Included. Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 1967. Quarto, xii, 196 pages with 229 illustrations. Gilt-decorated cloth; extremities very slightly bumped; a couple of ink emphases; an excellent copy with the dustwrapper a little chipped, creased and rubbed. With the ink ownership details (dated 11 April 1968) and signature of scholar and palaeographer Leonard Eugene Boyle OP OC. Beneath this is his later signed ink gift inscription ('your type of book!', dated 1 September 1984), the year he was appointed Prefect of the Vatican Library. Loosely inserted is a small collection of related ephemera (including a page of handwritten notes), and the publisher's 'for review' slip.
