Elizabeth Bowen, CBE (1899 - 1973) was an Irish- British novelist and short story writer, notable for her fiction about life in wartime London. Among authors discussed, Elizabeth mentions Henry Fielding, Oliver Goldsmith, Samuel Richardson, Lawrence Sterne, Daniel Defoe, Jane Austen, Sir Walter Scott, Charlotte Bronte, Charles Dickens, Mrs. Gaskell, Thomas Hardy George Eliot, and Arnold Bennett. Cloth tight and without annotations; very light foxing on front pastedown but not to illustrations; light uniform age-toning. Dust jacket unclipped with fraying at edges.
