1813. From Thomas Birch's "The Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britain" published 1746-1752, and reprinted 1756 and 1813. The engraving is Fine, matted in acid-free mat, mat measuring 13" x 18", the engraving, 10 1/2" x 15 5/8" paper size. The original, done in 1737, is in the National Portrait Gallery, London. Frances, Earl of Bedford built the square of Covent Gardens (1631) and lead the draining of the Fens of Cambridgeshire. . No Binding . Fine.

This is an unnumbered copy out of a limited edition of 100 copies, set in Airport Black Type by Typographic Service; the plates were printed by the Beck Engraving Co. Surrealist painter and printmaker Dmitri Petrov (1919-1986) was born in Philadelphia and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. The poems by English poet Thomas Hood (1799-1845) illustrated here by Petrov are: The Dream of Eugene Aram -- The Last Man -- The Song of the Shirt -- The Key: A Moorish Romance -- The Stag-Eyed Lady: A Moorish Tale -- The Bridge of Sighs.
