About This Item
London: Anthony Blond, 1969. Cloth. Near Fine. FIRST UK TRADE EDITION, INSCRIBED BY ILLUSTRATOR. 4to. Original pink cloth, spine and upper board stamped in gilt. Pushing to spine ends, top edge spotted. Inscribed in black pen on title page: "To Lawrence – Erté". Else, clean, bright and tight. In the original Erte-designed dust jacket: gentle soiling and wear. Near fine/ near fine. A gorgeous copy of Strachey's private "facétie" (and scathing critique) of sexual mores, originally written in 1913 for his lover Henry Lamb, and signed by the Russian artist and designer, Erté, in this apt pairing of illustrator and author. A limited, signed edition of 250 copies, in matching slipcase, was issued simultaneously.
