From the introduction: "Once upon a time, when people still believed in gracious living, collectors of rare books had artists design personalized exlibris or bookplates for them. They usually bore the owner's name and maybe their coat of arms or some other decorative design and were to be pasted on the inside of the book cover... The wealthy collectors, interested in erotic literature and able to pay for it, usually had their rare erotic books bound in costly vellum and leather by top craftsmen… In these cases, the bookplates appropriately bore erotic designs in keeping with the nature of the book's subject matter." Bound in the original dark green boards, stamped in shiny gold. Complete with dust jacket.. First printing of the First Bell Edition. Hardcover. Fine condition/Fine dust jacket. Illus. by Anderson, Doug (jacket design). 8vo. 213pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
