Christie, Manson & Woods, New York, auction catalogue for the sale held on 17th and 18th October, 1988. Cloth, gilt, large 8vo, 31 cm,. 345, [14] pp, many plates (some colour), ills. Lots 1011 to 1672. Among the highlights of the were some fine early bindings, including an a la greca binding for Marc Laurin on the Aldine, another a la greca binding on the 1504 Homer; an Aldine Septuagint, and a Queen's Binder B 1680 Bible; a first edition of More's Utopia; a Pride and Prejudice in boards; Moxon's Mechanick Exercises on the Whole Art of Printing (1683); and a good group of books with fore-edge paintings (lots 1288 -1348) many of which are referred to in Weber's standard works. Lower edges of boards atrifle bumped, otherwise Fine.
