That's because throughout his adult life he was always the man at the controls - flying a fighter plane over Nazi Germany in World War II; piloting a crop duster over rice fields in southern Louisiana; or building Coastal Chemical Co. into an industry giant in the oilfields. Growing up in and around Abbeville, Louisiana, in the midst of The Great Depression, Revis' interest in flying began at a young age, when he spotted a plane soaring majestically through the air. Years later, his infatuation with airplanes blossomed when he signed up with the U.S. Army Air Corps in hopes of joining the war effort overseas. Throughout most of his pilot-training assignments, Revis was accompanied by his new bride, Lorraine Breaux Sirmon. He flew 50 combat missions in Europe, escaping a couple of close calls, and eventually returned home a war hero. As his family began to grow, Revis worked in a local rice mill and as a crop duster before going into business for himself. Even as a respected CEO in the oil business, he still flew a private plane, to transport himself and customers of Coastal Chemical Co. Despite his vast professional success, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as hunting and fishing and RV trips with his wife, children and friends.. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
