Description:
MP3 Audio CD. Emily Post?s name is synonymous with good manners, and Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics and at Home is her treatise on the subject. The book is still an authority on the questions surrounding proper etiquette in specific contexts, including how to behave at public gathering, weddings, funerals, at social clubs, while participating in sporting events, and how to go about giving and receiving invitations and letters. Post meticulously addresses the many nuances of social etiquette, including how to behave when confronted with particular situations. She describes how to properly introduce a person according to his or her sex, social status, and employment. She disparages New Yorkers because of their poor manners and discusses variations in proper etiquette according to location. She gives sage advice regarding dinner parties, imploring her readers not to perform culinary experiments on their guests. She entreats parents to practice good manners in front of their children,…

Description:
This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period. Thus, with apologies to our northern and southern neighbors, I use the title A History of American Art, knowing full well that the terms America and the United States are not synonymous...." - Preface from A History of American Art

This book is in good condition. There is a lot of wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards. There is also a substantial amount of staining on the cover boards. The pages are yellowed and tanned. There are also markings throughout the book. "The roots of this book reach back to the early 1950s in Paris, where I began my professional career as a journalist. France, supported by the United States, was then fighting to retain its hold in Indochina against the Vietminh, the Communist-led nationalist movement there. Description:
Indianapolis: Dog Ear Publishing, January 2013. Trade Paperback. Fine. Slight reading wear to corners, otherwise pristine. Not from a library. No remainder mark. Not clipped. Not damaged. Suitable for gifting. 163 pages. The 25 authors of this book were volunteers in the first Peace Corps rural community development project in Africa: Sierra Leone, 1965-67. They are also the first group to tell a collective story of Peace Corps volunteers, anywhere. The Peace Corps was in its infancy then, and memories of John Kennedy were strong among the young volunteers. Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. The authors forthrightly recount their feelings of loneliness and isolation, and their frightening experiences with secret societies and witchcraft, but their uniquely optimistic "can-do" American attitude brought most through a great life experience.
