About This Item
Paris: F. Pichon, 1877. Slim octavo, pp 96, mainly unopened, one folding litho plate (with two numbers), contents a little age-toned but otherwise good, paperback, covers a bit worn and chipped, lacking a small corner of the upper cover. With the stamp of Louis Planchon on the title page. There is one inked correction ,and Planchon's name written on the cover, presumably by the author. [Fevillea cordifolia, also known as Javillo and Antidote Caccoon, is a climbing vine of up to 20m belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae and occurring in South and Central America in Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Venezuela. Seeds, which contain the glucoside fevicordin, produce a fat with buttery texture, investigated in the 1980s as an internal combustion engine fuel by ethnobotanist James A. Duke. In Costa Rica and Honduras the indigenous people use the seeds as a laxative and for treating ailments such as parasites, fever and stomach cramps, septicemia in farmyard animals, and diarrhea.]. First Edition. Paperback. Good.
