Limited edition, copy 5 of 50 on Japanese paper with etchings on parchment. Preface by Alexandre Dumas. Painter and sculptor famous for his depictions of Napoleon, his armies and military themes. He documented sieges and maneuvers and was the teacher of Édouard Detaille. Ruskin after viewing his work with a magnifying glass marveled at his manual dexterity and eye for minutiae. Text block disbound. Interior contents fresh and clean.
