Binding tight and sturdy, printed brown paper over boards, newly brown cloth-rebacked. Seventeen figures interior. Born in Paris, France, 5 February 1878, died Sainte-Marguerite, near Pornichet, Brittany, France, 4 July 1953, the fourth Becquerel "to hold the chair of physics at the Museum of Natural History in Paris" (encyclopedia dot com). "Like his father, grandfather, and great grandfather Jean was educated at the Ãcole Polytechnique (1897) and became professor of physics at the French Museum of Natural History (1909). He discovered polarization rotation in the presence of a magnetic field, and wrote an important book about relativity. He was also a member of the Académie des sciences (1946)" (sciencewolfram dot com).Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
