Retold from Alexander Teixiera de Mattos' Translation of Fabre's "Souvenirs Entomologiques" by Mrs Rodolh Stawell". Ilustrated by E J Detmold). Second edition and forth printing. In good bright green cloth boards, gilt title field and decorative border to front with green and gilt titles. The covers are a little warped rom damp, with slight discolouration from damp front and back. Slight wobble to front cover; corners a little frayed. Unmarked end papers. Dark brown tinted top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are quite clean. The tail edge is warped. The text block throughout is warped. The pages are very clean and tightly bound, with 12 beautiful tipped in colour illustrations by E.J. Detmold with tissue guards. The illustrations have not been affected from the damp/water damage. No dedications etc. Without the warp the condition would be near fine to fine as the pages are so clean. No dedications etc. Without jacket. Good plus condition.
