Liverno:: Marco Coltellini,, 1763.. First Edition. Fine. A Fine original copperplate engraving. Folio (9.75 x 12.5 inches), matted in rag board. A detailed scene of a hill top Indigo factory with workers and inset of tools and frames, with legend set in floating panel above. Engraved by G.M.Terreni. From the enlarged Italian edition of Il Gazzettiere Americano; an encyclopedia of the Americas; with an eye towards appealing to contemporary commerce and trade which included 57 engraved plates of America's native mammals and birds, as well as scenes of building and manufacture, commerce (of indigo, tobacco, sugar), birds eye views of towns and city plans of the Americas and Colonies. These engravings were not present in the smaller format edition published by J. Millar; London 1762. (Howes A 207, Sabin 1090, 26814) single sheet matted in rag board.
