Signed on the title page by the author 'with every good wish' and dated 2/XII/98. Wrappers clean and bright except for slight fading to spine. Minor edge wear and crease to top front corner but no creasing to spine. Minor marking to page edges. Contents clean, tight and white without bookplates, inscriptions, foxing or other markings. viii, 308 pp + appendices; b/w illustrations, mainly photographic reproductions from the school's history. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Written by former history teacher, Ross Gilkes, to mark the centenary of Bristol's Fairfield School on 3rd November 1998. Gilkes tells the story of Fairfield from its founding in 1898, through the reign of nine Head Teachers, to its centenary in 1998. Drawing on the school magazine and the author's own quarter century of experience at the school; through anecdotes and photographs, life at Fairfield is recalled, revealed and celebrated. Scarce.
