Illustrated by Jean de Bosschere on every verso with text on the facing rectos, each page with large illustrated borders in various colors. First Edition/First Printing. Bound in red cloth boards with color pastedown present to the front board. Boards have shelf-wear present to the extremities (stain present to the reverse of the rear board). No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. A scarce de Bosschere title with the fairy tales in a new poetic guise: Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, The Sleeping Beauty, Hop-O-My-Thumb, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Bluebeard, Ass's Skin. Jean de Bosschère (Uccle, 5 July 1878 – Châteauroux, 17 January 1953) was a Belgian writer and painter. The work of De Bosschere was marked by a persistent spiritual seeking in his life he developed a fascination with the occult, the spiritual, the obscure and the sexual. He gave himself the nickname "Satan" and "l'Obscure", which formed the title of Satan l'Obscure (1933) , his second autobiographical novel after Marthe et l'Enragé. E-018; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
