Most of the first printing of 1940 was destroyed by the bombing of the publishers warehouse during the Blitz.:

Root's early-century, over-sized "dollhouse" book with illustrations (furniture, etc.) that can be cut out and mounted in any of nine different rooms. Full-color lithographs comprise an entire house. Root deliberately limited the number of illustrations so that the house could be customized and furnished with illustrations cut out from magazines and other sources. Rare. No copies appear in WorldCat library database at the time of this posting. 30 pp. 15 5/8" x 10". Tight copy with considerable shelf wear. Corners bumped and worn through, as are about half the edges. Hinges pulled away from backing somewhat, not affecting binding integrity. First two leaves show evidence of having been detached and competently reattached. Two small crayon markings noted. FISH, Anne Harriet. 1st US Edition illustrated by Fish. 23.2 x 29.2 cm 4to., black cloth spine over orange black and cream paper covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. Cream and orange paisley designed endpapers. Edges uncut, 108pp black and orange decorated initial letter to each stanza with 20 colour images in the Art Deco style with silver and gold highlights by Anne Fish, all with tissue guards. The book comes with its scarce original dust jacket. The boards are very good plus with a little bruising to the corners and a hint of shelfwear to the bottom edge. The gilt titles on the spine are a touch faded. Internally, there is no name inscription or book plate, the patterned front free endpaper has been removed at some point in the past and has now been professionally replaced with a copy.
