Small nick to top edge of lower jacket cover (at spine edge); slight rubbing to jacket; slight internal browning to edges. [8], 196 pages. Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by Johnson in black ink on front free endpaper, April 19, 1979: 'Dick, I must apologize, deeply, for missing your class last week -- my students kept me pinned in the office until it was too late -- but I wanted to give you a copy of my novel ... in thanks for your friendship, your support, and the delightful time I had on your program, 'Postscript to Roots'. Many thanks, Chas. Johnson, 19/4/79'. The reference is to Johnson's participation as a panelist on the University of Washington's 'University Conversations: Postscript to Roots' in the summer of 1978. Nice, tight copy with a superb presentation inscription.
