About This Item
James Nisbet & Co. Limited, 1908. pp. xii, 462 with many illustrations and folding pedigrees. Original black buckram, a little rubbed, but sound. A note to the title page states "Printed for Private Circulation (75 Copies)". Together with A Supplement to a Family Biography edited by Rachel Ryan, for Private Circulation 1929, pp. viii, 272, illustrated, original black cloth. Very good condition. The main volume is inscribed to the front endpaper "1932 This was C. P. S's personal copy and was given to F.S.A. after his death." A note at the front of the supplement suggests that F,S.A .was F. S. Attenborough. At the end of the main volume are various manuscript and typed additions plus a Second Appendix on the case of Scott v Shepherd. Copac records only two libraries holding the first volume and none for the supplement. Extensive information on the family history of C P Scott (1846-1932), the great Manchester Guardian editior and proprietor.
