New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1899. First Edition, first impression, second issue with the ads headed 'New Fiction'. Original illustrated cloth and mostly printed dustjacket. Bierce's take on politicians, businessmen, and religious leaders. Very scarce in dustjacket. Near Fine in Very Good dustjacket, half inch of loss at top spine end, closed tear below, couple of small chips at lower edge, half dollar sized light stain at lower front panel.
Synopsis
