Harper and Brothers. New York. 1951. x. 243 pages. Hardcover. The black covers are in good plus condition, bumping and some creasing on corners. The spine is blue-green with title, author, and publisher in black; it is mildly rolled on top and bottom. The dust jacket is in good minus condition with several condition issues; it is heavily frayed around the edges with some loss on the front (about 1' x1") and spine (about 1" x 1/2"); the spine is sunned. The front is colorful, the original price ($4.00) is intact on inside front flap with photo of the author and illustrator taken by Edwin Way Teale on the inside rear flap. The dust jacket is now protected in a clear, archival removable cover. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in good plus condition. The pages are clean and bright. Previous owners name and date on front free endpaper, otherwise there is no other writing or foxing detected. The top corners of pages are creased. The book contains over 50 b/w illustrations by Francis Lee Jaques.
