A Farewell To Arms - 1st Printing Published Serially In Scribner's Magazine (3 1929 Issues - July, August, September) - : Scribner's Magazine - July, August, September 1929

This is a collection of 3 issues of "Scribner's Magazine" from 1929 that contain the first printing, first appearance of "A FAREWELL TO ARMS" by Ernest Hemingway. Prior to being published in book form, the novel first appeared serially in Scribner's Magazine over 6 issues, May to October. This lot contains 3 of those issues, July to September. With cover illustrations by Rockwell Kent. Scarce in any condition.

The issues contain the following chapters of "A Farewell to Arms":
July - XVII to XXIV
August - XXV to XXIX
September - XXX to XXXIV

Condition:
All 3 issues are very clean on the inside with only some light foxing to the inside covers and page 1 of two of the issues...no other condition issues were found . JULY - two-thirds of the paper over the spine has peeled off; tiny tear at the outer edge of the front cover (resulting in the front cover being separated from the spine 2/3 of the way down from the top; small tears at the left, bottom and right edges of the back cover. AUGUST - the back cover is detached; the paper over the spine has peeled off 1" at the bottom. SEPTEMBER - the paper over the spine has peeled off 1" at the top...otherwise in very good condition. Each issue has some light soiling to the covers; "Cornell Library Assoc. Ithaca N.Y." is hole-punched on the front covers...there are no other library markings. Overall a lot with great condition interiors, but with condition issues to the covers.
