In India, missionary William Ward ran a printing press used to disseminate the scriptures, once they had been translated into Bengáli, Mahratta, Tamil, and 23 other languages. Ward still found time to keep a copious diary and preach the gospel to the locals. In this volume, he writes of the philosophical system of the Hindus, the state of female society in India, the triumphs of the missionary cause in India, success of native schools, Serampore Missionary College, duties of missionary life. A rear section discusses the origin of the Mennonites, their doctrines, churches, and the state of religion in Holland and America. Two years after this book was published, Ward died of cholera at Serampore.
