London: Archibald Constable & Co. Ltd., 1897. "Farthest North" being the record of a voyage of exploration of the ship 'Fram' 1893-96 and of a fifteen months' sleigh journey by Dr Nansen and Lieut. Johansen with an Appendix by Otto Sverdrup Captain of the 'Fram', approximately 120 full page and numerous text illustrations, 16 coloured plates in facsimile from Dr Nansen's own sketches, etched portrait, photographs and maps. Boards rubbed in places, corners and spine ends bumped, gilt lettering to head of front boards and to spine, gilt illustration to corner at foot of front boards, closed edges at head browned, spotting to uncut closed edges, previous owner's name label to front pastedowns, light spotting to endpapers, title pages, frontispieces with tissue guards, Volume I - black/white image of author, Volume II black/white image entitled, 'Sailing Kayaks'. Pages clean, text clear to read, folded colour maps to rear of volumes in very good condition, closed tear to head of one map, pp secure in binding.. Cloth Covered Boards. Good. 8vo Thick.
