Fridtjof Nansen was a Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In his younger days, he was a champion in skiing and ice skating. He was world-famous after achieving a record northern latitude of 86°14? in his North Pole excursion of 1893?96. Though he resigned from discovering after coming back to Norway, his skills of polar expedition and his modernisms in equipment and clothing prompted a line of succeeding Arctic and Antarctic voyages. Fridtjof took up zoology at the Royal Frederick University in Christiania was given a new name Oslo in 1925, and then worked as a curator at the Bergen Museum where his study on the central nervous system of lower marine species gotten him a doctorate and assisted in creating of new theories of neurology. After 1896, his core scientific concentration changed to oceanography; during his study, he made several scientific travels, particularly in the North Atlantic, and added to the progress of new oceanographic equipment. He was among the country's top nationals, in 1905, he voiced out for the conclusion of Norway's accord with Sweden, and was contributory in convincing Prince Carl of Denmark to take the rule of the once more independent Norway.
