Reprint. A worn copy of the last novel published during his lifetime by this successful muckraking journalists (his writings on the corruption of the US Senate were influential in the passage of the 17th amendment) - this book was responsible for his murder by a Harvard-educated musician from a prominent Maryland family who believed that the novel cast aspersions on his sister. Illustrated with a glossy frontispiece with tissue guard and 7 internal glossy plates. 344 pp plus 6 pp of about the author and his other books.
