About This Item
8vo sized 3-ring binder with washable hard covers. Color photo illustrated front cover. Inside of covers are various cooking charts. 512 bright, white pages. Illustrated section dividers are in the back of the book along with several colored illustrated pages of cooking information. Overall the recipes in the book reflect Southern home cooking with a scattering of recipes from other cultures. Recipes include the name of the contributor (see note below) and their city and state. There is a Recipe Index and an Index of Contributors (a rare feature in a community cookbook.) This volume is in memory of a child, Katherine "Kate" Goodson, and many of the recipes contributors are also identified by their relationship to her (i.e. "Kate's Great Aunt.) There is a multipage, color photo illustrated biography of Kate in the front of book. With more than 500 pages and a three-inch thick binder, this the biggest community cookbook we've seen. Recipes include: Corn Dip; Southern Pimento Cheese; Cinzetti's Sicilian Carbonara; Salmon Ball; Onion Cakes; Cheey Hawaiian Bread; Judy's Cranberry Salad; Country Potato Soup; Spicy Black-Eyed Pea Soup; Couscous Salad; Grape Salad; Stogner Rice; Crash Hot Potatoes; Sweet Potato Casserole (at least two different versions); Creamy Grits; Acapulco Golden Burgers; Tater Tot Casserole; Chicken Creole with Chile Cream Sauce; Huntington Chicken; Microwave Ham & Sausage Jambalaya; Beef Mexicana; Spaghetti Pie; Artichoke Frittata; Red Beans and Rice; Angel Flake Biscuits; Raised Potato Donuts; Poppy Seed Breads; Sweet Potato Biscuits; Buttermilk Pie (at least two versions); Strawberry Pie; Mom's Pie; Microwave Coconut Pie; Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake; Peachy Custard Pie; Hummingbird Cake; Apricot Cookies; Aunt Zede's Pom Pom Candy; N.M.
