Il avait étudié la peinture à l'Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles et chez le peintre Charles Counhaye.Il faisait partie des membres fondateurs de plusieurs collectifs artistiques tels 'Forces Murales', 'Mouvement réaliste' ou encore 'Collectif d'art public'.Artiste engagé, il fut membre du parti communiste belge et entendait placer l'être humain au centre de son art.
