Tight and solid sewn binding. Pages lightly toned, quite clean, completely unmarked. Nine stories comprise "Fiery Particles", four set in peacetime England, Ireland and Australia; the rest concerned with the first World War; all display the author's unequalled sense of irony, pathos, and style. C. E. Montague was a distinguished novelist, essayist and critic, born in1867. He enlisted in the Army in 1914-at the age of 46- and his stories- Fiery Particles, Disenchantment and Rough Justice--were the fruits of this experience. 233 pages. 7.5 x 4.8 inches. 1951, London Chatto & Windus/Phoenix Library.
