New York: Benziger Brothers, 1876. Probable First Edition. Hardcover. Poor/No jacket. 376 pages, illustrated with black and white frontispiece and black and white drawings. A reader for children intended to give them a sound Catholic education, with church history as well as stories about American history. Quarter leather over black stamped cloth boards, black titles on covers and embossed titles on spine, blessing from Leo P. P. XII on front fixed end paper. Front cover detached at hinge, scuffing and spotting of cover, wear to leather on spine, corners and spine ends bumped, several names in pencil on front free end paper, interior pages tanning with some stains, part of index missing with back free end paper, writing on back fixed end paper.

Measures 5 x 7 1/2 inches.
