About This Item
London: Macmillan, 1892. First Edition. Hard Cover. First UK Edition. Publisher's original burgundy straight-grained cloth. Gilt title on spine. Original coated yellow end-papers. Black and white illustration on the title page. 15 plates with a total of 23 illustrations. One extra plate 16 (bound in opposite page 104) which is not called for in the index. All the plates are in the correct position. A totally original first edition in VG+ condition just very slight softening at the spine tips and with a small bookseller's ticket to the bottom right hand corner of the front paste-down. No D/W. A very nice copy indeed seldom seen in collectible condition and - most importantly - NOT AN EX-LIBRARY COPY AND THE SPINE IS NOT SUNNED. A superior copy.
Reviews
On Apr 5 2022, a reader said:
A "must" for any criminology (forensics) library. Historic work by Galton, with obvious sociological implications of racial disparity, not practiced at that era.
