Photographic illustrated dust jacket matching the Illustrated Boards beneath. The dust jacket is faded over the spine section, and has numerous short tears, the longest being 3.0 inches, the shortest of being 0.5 inches. . Traces of foxing to the top edge of the text block, gift inscription on half title page. Beginning with the primitive matchlock, the author describes the progress of inventions of the wheel lock, flintlock and percussion cap, and the development of the revolver. This is a Handbook for the collector as well as a fascinating history of a weapon that has its place in the military and social history of all nations. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
