This one is one that spoke to the heart of famed African American poet, Langston Hughes, who had become acquainted with the West Indies himself as a seaman. A FIRST EDITION, Second Printing, from 1956, this hardcover 8vo (7.25" x 8.75") has 62 pages + Index, with decorative endpapers & illustrations throughout by Robert Bruce. With soft yellow cloth-covered boards lettered in brown to front & spine, it is in Near Fine condition: extremely clean, pages lightly tanned but completely unmarked, binding strong & straight, front hinge secure but starting, corners crisp. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $1.95 price intact to front flap) is Good+: colorful & bright, but missing a few chips & lightly soiled & rubbed; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
