London, John C. Nimmo, 1899. Two Volumes. 9 x 6 inches. Half bound leather fine bindings by Hatchards, Piccadilly. Black polished morocco with gilt line edging and blue cloth to boards. Raised banding, gilt paneled decorations and lettering to spines. Top page edges gilt, marbled endpapers. In very good conditions. Some minor handling marks to boards, some rubbing to cloth on rear of vol.2. Small chip to top end and small rubbed patch to bottom corner of spine on vol.1. Binders stamps to corners of endpapers. No penned inscriptions. Inside pages and plates all very clean, bright and tight throughout. Page edges uncut. No foxing or spots. Else a very good clean and tight 2 vol. set. xi + 347 & xiii + 391pp. Illustrated with 16 B&W engraved portraits. Each with titled tissue guard.
