Tissue-guarded colour frontis plus numerous b/w text illustrations. x and 294 pages plus 24 page publisher adverts to rear. Front edge of spine fraying and split to outside edge. Corners lightly worn. Inscription in ink to half-title page. Frontispiece present but detached. A few hinges starting to pull. Some grubby marks present.

Heavy annotation to rear endpapers. Pages are rough cut. Pages are moderately tanned with a few small nicks and mild foxing along text block edge. Visible thumb-marking present throughout. Mild cracking to hinges and gutters, with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Minor dog-eared corners. Former owner's inscription to half title page, with a pencil inscription on reverse of frontispiece. Chip to rear endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with mild bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Heavy tanning to spine and edges, with visible crushing to spine ends. Book has a pronounced forward lean. Small splits to spine ends.
