About This Item
"Having been invited in the Spring of 1921 to undertake a lecturing tour in the united States of America, I seized the opportunity of jotting down as I wen along my impressions . . . ." (from the foreword) "To Mr. & Mrs. Paul Johnson with the author's warmest regards & heartiest remembrances of their sterling American friendship & hospitality. Novr. 1922" is written on the front free end paper. Included with the book is a one-page advertising flier from the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection. The text is unmarked and the binding is intact (although the front hinge is loosening slightly). The blue-cloth cover is bright with gold lettering. The cover is shelf-worn and slightly darkening around the edges, and the head and toe of the spine are bumped. The toe of the spine has two tiny tears (where the cloth is frayed). The front cover has a four inch superficial scratch and the top front corners are bumped. The end papers are darkening. The top edge has some small dents. There is no copyright information on the back of the title page, but the forward states "Gloucester, 1921" and the title page indicates "London: Hutchinson & Co. Paternoster Row." No dust jacket.
