Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1944. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 6 X 8 3/4 Inches. 558 PP. Important biography of Nathan Beford Forrest. Signed and inscribed, "To Parson Willard Teague, in appreciation of his help on this job - Robert Selph Henry - October 31, 1944." Teague was a noted editor at both the Nashville Banner and the Memphis Commerical Appeal. He undoubtedly served in an editorial capacity on this book. Very early inscription in the year of publication. Signed on the half title-page. Original price of $4.00 intact on front flap. DJ has a bit of primitive tape repair along the edges and spine. Original maroon cloth a bit rubbed at hinges. A very appealing copy of a book notriously difficult to find in high-grade condition.

Description:
Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1944. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. 6 X 8 3/4 Inches. 558 PP. Important biography of Nathan Beford Forrest. Stated First Edition on the copyright page. Listed in "In Tall Cotton". Signed and inscribed, "For the one who started all this - so long ago - Alice Eloise Stockell. With the affectionate regard of its perpetrator - Robert Henry / October, 31 / 1944" directly on the half title-page. Alice was part owner of the "Stokes and Stockell" bookstore on the corner of 5th and Union in Nashville. She was a noted local authority on Forrest and obviously had a little something to do with the writing of this book (per the inscription at least). Original maroon cloth a bit rubbed and worn at hinges and top of spine . A very appealing copy of a book notriously difficult to find in high-grade condition.
