Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, 1917. First published in 1914. This is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing from three years later, containing "The Gods of the Mountain," "The Golden Doom," "King Argimenes and the Unknown Warrior," "The Glittering Gate," and "The Lost Silk Hat." Maroon cloth binding titled in gilt on the spine. Clean text; xii, 116 pages. There is a tipped-in magazine article (1917) about Dunsany. Mild bumping; rubbing to head and foot of the spine, which has faded to a sort of brown. The gilt of the titling is quite dulled, although it can be made out. No dustjacket.. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
Synopsis
Five Plays is the eighth book by Anglo-Irish fantasy writer Lord Dunsany, considered a major influence on the work of J. R. R. Tolkien, H. P. Lovecraft, Ursula K. Le Guin and others. It was first published in hardcover by Grant Richards in February, 1914, and has been reprinted a number of times since. The book is actually Dunsany's sixth major work, two of his preceding books having been chapbooks or selections from his other works.
