About This Item

New York: Brewer Warren & Putnam, 1932. First Edition . Black Cloth. Very Good/Excerpts from Dust Jacket. A Clean, Tight, Solid Copy, Gilt On Cover Present But Not Brilliant, Gilt On Spine Barely Readable. Front Flap Of Dj, With $2.50 Price, Tipped Onto Front Pastedown; Rear Panel [Presumably], With Four Paragraph Description Of Book, Is Tipped Onto Front Free Endpaper; Both Are Printed In Green Ink. With Small Handwritten Presentation Note, "To My First Best Girl / With Love / Lincoln" And The Hand-Addressed Envelope "Ms. Grace Burroughs"; The Envelope Is Taped To The Second Front Blank Endpaper And Has A Slight Tear There As A Result. With A One Page Anonymous But Apparently Contemporary Note With A Critical Analysis "If Roger Is Supposed To Be The Personification Of The Author, It Is The Best Feature Of The Book - For He Portrays The Cleanest Mind Of Any Of The Men. The Whole Seems To Me To Have Come From An Unsound Mind And To Be Extremely Lacking In Point".
