About This Item
NY: Leavitt & Allen; (no date). Hardcover. Mid-19th century elaborate publication with red cloth and numerous hand painted, in some cases, gilt decorations on front board and spine. Very good in original cloth, with gilt page edges and decorations, some of have worn partially. Front hinge is a little loose, as are a couple of the signatures. There are 28 illustrations, and two preliminary pages, all of which are brilliantly hand colored and all have the original tissue guards. Each illustration has a two page text accompaniment, and there are a couple of indexes at rear called "Language of Flowers." A beautiful book, scarce in the original binding.
