New York: Limited Editions Club, 1985. Signed on the colophon by the author and numbered 953. First limited edition / First printing. Copy 953 of 1,000 copies. 3 volumes bound with eel skin spines and light gray cloth covered boards. Fine in near fine slipcase. Gunter Grass was the 1999 Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Designed by Ben Shiff. The plates for the images were made by Carl Schutte & C. Behling in Berlin. These relief plates were printed letterpress by David Wolfe at The Anthoensen Press, the covers made at Jovonis Bookbindery with natural eelskin spines and Italian bookcloth on the boards. The Limited Editions Club Letter laid in.
