Court records dating back to 1605; Volumes 2 & 3: Folk lore of early settlers of America and their ancestral lineage, interesting short notes including poems of Judge D. W. Bolen and others; Volume 4: Folk lore: Why called Shades of Death, Betty Baker, Sylvatus; The Blind Tiger, Lambsburg; Hillsville. B&W illustrations, portraits, color coat of arms, facsimiles. Staples are rusty. Owner's address labels on the inside front cover for all four volumes. Some foxing to volumes 2 & 3. Pages in Volume 3 are browned. Several blank pages.
