About This Item
LONDON: Religious Tract Society , 1862 A series of biographies of religious reformers illustrated by colour printed plates of the towns they were most associated with - so for example Martin Luther and Wittenberg. With 8 colour printed plates by J M Kronheim and Co - using a colour printing process under license from George Baxter. In full leather prize binding - with a gilt crest of St Marylebone and All Souls Grammar School, in Union with Kings College on the front board; raised bands and gilt tooling to spine. The leather is a little worn at the edges and joints, the title label is missing and there is a small mark to the back board. The page edges are marbled and there are marbled endpapers. The front pastedown has a presentation plate to Charles Nott for 'Good conduct at Drill'. The colour plates are very finely printed and tissue guarded but there is some light brown spotting (we can send images of all plates on request). The plates are of: Prague, Zurich, Antwerp, Geneva, Spires, Wittenberg, Augsburg and La Tour Vaudois Valleys. Contents generally in good condition. Small light book - please enquire if you would like us to assess postage at cost.

About E C Books
E C Books is a small online bookselling business, specialising in pre 20th century works:natural history, science, history, and travel, aiming for rarer and more unusual books. Our largest stock area is Natural History, where we have a good range of books from the 1700-1800's, many finely illustrated. Other areas include children's books, particularly late 1800's-early 1900's - again illustrated; and literature pre 1900.When you order books from us we ensure that they are properly packed to protect condition, and we always use recorded or 'signed for' postal services for more secure delivery. Please note that we have recently moved to the beautiful Orkney Islands, where we intend to open a bookshop over the next year. Because of our location we cannot guarantee 'next day' delivery but we will get your purchase to you as quickly and safely as we can. Please note that the buyer is responsible for the payment of any tax or duty on import.
